7 YEAR CLUB CELEBRATES 51 YEARS

A memorable Christmas luncheon marked the occasion for the group

The 7 Year Club celebrated its 51st Anniversary in style with a sold out luncheon that left a lasting impression on its attendees late last year.
For those readers who don’t know about this club, it gets the seven from the seven Aftermarket men who decided 51 years ago that there should be an annual Christmas luncheon where working and retired Automotive Aftermarket members could get together in a social situation and just enjoy the fellowship of others in the industry while also providing a function for those retired persons to catch up and meet old friends.
Following an article in the July edition of this magazine inviting members of the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA) and their partners to join the celebration, the 2024 event garnered overwhelming support, with every seat filled and a waiting list of hopefuls.
Held in a festive atmosphere in the Conservatory at Carman’s Fine Foods in Huntingdale in Victoria, organisers state the luncheon was a testament to the camaraderie and shared history of retired Aftermarket professionals, including three past AAAA Presidents.
One of the highlights of the event was the keynote address by guest speaker Lyn Boyes KC, a retired judge with an illustrious career which extended beyond the courtroom to include time spent
as a thoroughbred breeder, racehorse owner,
and winery proprietor with interests in cattle farming.
Lyn’s address captivated the audience with engaging anecdotes from his legal career and adventures in horse racing, with his stories offering a unique blend of humour, insight and inspiration.
The event also celebrated the enduring legacy of the 7 Year Club with a special presentation
to two founding members: Brian Davies, renowned for his contributions through the Brian’s Speed Shop chain, and fellow aftermarket pioneer,
Chris Jones of Durable Auto Spares. Both Brian and Chris were appointed as life members of the club.
In 2025, the 7 Year Club Christmas Luncheon has been confirmed as Friday 28 November.
The club organisers encourage AAAA members to become part of the 7 Year Club and attend the 2025 Christmas Luncheon and have the opportunity to renew acquaintances with working and retired Automotive Aftermarket people.
