Autocare 2023 will feature a comprehensive education program

Autocare 2023 is Australia’s largest training convention for automotive technicians and business owners, taking place across the 9th and 10th of June 2023 in Brisbane.
A wide array of must-attend training programs for technicians and workshops will be held across the two days.
The Technical Training Program will deliver advanced, comprehensive, hands-on training on the latest generation vehicles, scan tools, software and diagnostics for technicians and apprentices.
The Workshop Management Program will deliver the latest information and advice on topics including right to repair, low emission vehicles, staff retention and recruitment, customer service, cyber-crime, financial management and environmental sustainability, for business owners and managers.

The Australian Automotive Aftermarket – 2023 And Beyond (Workshop Management) –
Friday 9 June, 9.00am to 10.00am

Leaders of the Australian Aftermarket will share and discuss global and industry trends in the automotive aftermarket, discussing the questions: what’s coming and what does it mean for your business? Speakers include AAAA CEO, Stuart Charity; Capricorn Society Group CEO, David Fraser; MTAQ CEO, Rod Camm; and GPC Asia Pacific CEO, Wayne Bryant.

Live Data Diesel Diagnostics – 4WD And Light Vehicle (Technical Training) – Friday 9 June, 9.00am to 10.30am
Valhalla Lead Instructor, Dan Gough, will host this informative seminar on the topic of Live Data Diesel Diagnostics for 4WDs and light vehicles.

High Voltage Battery Insights (Technical Training) – Friday 9 June, 9.00am to 10.30am; Saturday 10 June, 9.00am to 11.00am
Explore the different types of high voltage batteries for EV and Hybrid vehicles, how to analyse and diagnose faults, and determine the health of a high voltage battery pack with Jeff Smit of The Automotive Technician – TaT.

A Streamlined Approach To Diagnostic Dilemmas (Technical Training) – Friday 9 June, 9.00am to 10.30am; Saturday 10 June, 2.00pm to 3.30pm
This session, featuring technician and instructor Brandon Steckler, shows you how to incorporate basic testing techniques and modern diagnostic tooling with available service information to diagnose and solve any issue easily and efficiently, regardless of the vehicle type.

An introduction to Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), including powertrain operation, safety considerations and required workplace tools and equipment. Speakers include MTAQ Technical Trainer, Keith Minchin, and MTA Technical Learning and Development Officer, Nigel Palmer.

This session will provide practical insights into how to improve employment tactics for finding and keeping staff. Brand new research on how top workshops are attracting good staff will be shared. Exhaust Aftertreatment (Technical Training) – Friday 9 June, 2.00pm to 3.30pm
Around 95 percent of vehicles sold in 2023 still have an internal combustion engine, but this is only possible due to exhaust aftertreatment systems that allow vehicles to meet emissions targets. This session will delve into catalytic converters, diesel particulate filters, and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) commonly referred to as Adblue. As an increasing cause of driveability or warning light faults, Brendan Sorenson from The Automotive Technician will discuss operation, testing and repair methods for these systems for you to use in the workshop.

Pressure Waveform Acquisition And Analysis, From The Inside-Out (Technical Training) – Saturday 10 June, 11.00am to 12.30pm
This session with Brandon Steckler will take the pressure-transducer novice to a whole new level. Technicians with labscope/engine mechanical operation knowledge will learn how to capture pressure waveforms (from the intake manifold/tailpipe and in-cylinder) and use the information to make diagnostic-decisions. The course will cover transducer functionality with both absolute transducers as well as delta transducers. It will touch on the benefits and characteristics of both types of transducers and how they can be used to gain an edge. Brandon will show his approach using real world examples including case studies from his own library. Attendees leave with confidence to invest in the tooling to perform pressure testing and analysis to improve accuracy and efficiency. The session will be an introductory overview of this important topic.

Hybrid And EV Transition – The Mechanics And Insights (Technical Training), Saturday 10 June, 2.00pm to 3.00pm
There are many components making up an EV or hybrid vehicle besides the high-voltage battery, and it is important to understand how routine servicing and the components interact. This includes the inverter, brakes, transmission, HV AC, Assembly MG1 and MG2. The session hosted by Infinitev will share their years of experience in diagnosing hybrid vehicle faults, share their research on EVs and how the battery (lithium) has other functions besides its use as a traction battery once it reaches its end-of-use, including how to reuse and repurpose for the industry.
