PENRITE ENJOYS SANDOWN SUCCESS

The leading oil company has long been associated with motorsport in Australia

Since 1926, Penrite says it has been “the oil of choice for those wanting the best for their vehicles.”
This year the Australian family owned and operated lubricants company was once again the naming rights partner of the Penrite Oil Sandown 500, which took place across the 15th to the 17th of September at Sandown Raceway.
The event was the first opportunity for racing fans to see all of the Repco Supercars Championship drivers and co-drivers battle it out in an enduro in the new Gen 3 Mustangs and Camaros, and also marked the first time the 500km enduro event had been back on the Supercars calendar since 2019.
With the history of the race dating back to 1964 and Penrite’s long involvement at the Sandown track, Penrite have had a habit of running retro inspired liveries for the event, including the Chickadee Holden of Bailey/Grice, Hertz 350GT Mustang, JPS inspired Commodore and even a Peter Brock tribute car
For the 2023 Penrite Oil Sandown 500, Penrite partnered with legendary Australian racing car driver, Allan Moffat, and his charity Dementia Australia.
The partnership focused on two fronts: raising awareness and community support for patients and their families affected by dementia; and recognising Allan’s long and successful racing career, including his contribution to the Australian motorsport landscape.
Penrite Oil additionally arranged through Supercars to recognise Dementia Australia as the official charity partner of the Penrite Sandown 500 and along with Allan’s family and agent Phil Grant, involved Allan in the reimagining of his famous 1979 XC Federation Falcon.
The original sleek black falcon with bold red, orange and yellow was transformed with the help of designer Peter Hughes onto the new Penrite racing Gen 3 Mustangs which were campaigned by enduro pairs David Reynolds and Garth Tander, and Matt Payne and Kevin Estre.
“We were so pleased to work with Allan Moffat and Dementia Australia,” Penrite Oil Brand Manager, Jarrod Harding, said.
“As an Australian family-owned business with strong community values, Penrite feel it is important to give back and support those who need it most.
“Those at the event were able to get up close to a replica of the original 1979 XC Federation Falcon just near the Penrite racing garage and find out more information regarding Dementia from Dementia Australia.”
