Identifying and resolving common problems

Is your customer’s engine’s temperature playing tricks on you, or perhaps their radiator fan seems overly enthusiastic? These are signs that the cooling system might need attention.
MAHLE explains that the following are some common issues to consider.

1. Engine temperature too high or too low: improper bleeding leading to air pockets is a frequent culprit. Ensure a thorough vacuum-filling process to eliminate these hotspots.
2. Coolant boiling over: loss of coolant due to radiator damage, be it from rock chips, accidents, or corrosion, could be the cause. Regular inspections are key to catching potential issues early.
3. Radiator fan running continuously: this may be a sign of inadequate heat exchange, possibly caused by external or internal contamination of the radiator. Keep the cooling system clean and free from debris.
4. Poor heater performance: contaminated or aged cooling water, a faulty coolant pump, or a jammed thermostat could be the root of this problem. Regular maintenance and timely replacements are crucial.

In some cases, a faulty valve in the reservoir cap may contribute to these issues. Identifying and addressing these problems promptly can save you from costly repairs down the line.
