NEW FRONT CENTRE SEAT SOLUTION FOR SILVERADO

Vehicle Engineering Australia is offering a new solution for Chev Silverado 1500

Vehicle Engineering Australia says the latest Chev Silverado 1500 has been at a sales disadvantage to the latest RAM 1500 in terms of three adults in the front row being standard in the RAM but lacking in the Silverado where only two adult seats are offered in the front row.
In short, the company says the RAM is selling more because it seats six adults total as opposed to the Chev’s five (with both having three rear adult seats as standard).
Vehicle Engineering Australia says it now offers a solution, having developed a front console replacement adult seat which features a lap/sash inertia reel seatbelt plus a single child restraint anchor support, with the seatback able to be folded down to create a centre arm rest.
In the USA a centre front seat is an option but with a lap seatbelt only, meaning the floor pan has the necessary mounting points for a centre front adult seat.
Vehicle Engineering Australia has formulated a Techsafe (Queensland) single adult assembly in combination with a unique laser cut and precision bent steel plate mounting system.
It states a prototype has been made and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) has been used to confirm the strength of the assembly.
It also says headspace has been addressed as part of this process, as this is one of the critical elements of VSB5 (the Standard for the manufacture of aftermarket seats).
Further, great care has reportedly been taken in matching the colour and texture of the upholstery, for a resulting look that it says appears to be ‘factory,’ which is then further enhanced with the integration of the rearmost air-conditioning outlet being used.
3D scanning and 3D printing techniques have been central to this product development and the developed centre console adult seat replacement has Registered Design status.
