PLANS WELL UNDERWAY FOR THE 2025 PHILLIP ISLAND CLASSIC

The historic racing event will be held in March in Victoria

The Phillip Island Classic is a major historic motorsport event, one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
Planning for the 2025 Phillip Island Classic is well underway with nearly 400 cars committed to compete in ten categories, and there will also be about 1,000 cars on display at the family friendly event.
The participant vehicles range from late ‘20s models up to late ‘80s models and race organisers also promise there will be some exciting international race cars that have never been seen in Australia.
The much anticipated event will be held from
7-9 March at the internationally rated Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
Spectators can observe the events from many points along the circuit and from the roof top of the main building with fantastic views of the main straight.
The ‘Festival of Motorsport’ will again welcome Ernie and Elaine Nagamatsu from the USA. Ernie will be driving one of the promised international cars that Australia has never seen before.
The replica 7/8 scale (Old Yella) OY10 Chassis 00 Corvette Special Racer was produced as a tribute to the original 00 Corvette Special raced by the legendary Dave MacDonald.
Accompanying Ernie is a friend who will be racing a 1971 Datsun 510, a model that changed the game for sedan racing in America in the early 1970s.
Keith Allers will make the trip from the UK with his 1958 Lola Mk 1 sportscar with stunning aluminium bodywork. This car created quite the buzz in its day as Eric Broadley’s first built car for the rapidly growing sports car market.
Another car that is sure to be a showstopper is the Porsche 917/30 Chassis 005. It was built at the Porsche Weissach facility, a large Porsche dealer in USA, for Gerry Sutterfield, and only recently arrived in Australia.
The 917 cars ruled the Can-Am series in 1973 with 917/30 Chassis 003 raced by Mark Donohue for Penske.
The 2025 event is the first time the 5374 cc flat 12 cylinder, air cooled turbocharged 917/30 Chassis 005 will be participating at Phillip Island.
