Since 2019, Racing Shocks Australia has been selling motorsport shocks for various forms of competition as well as servicing and repairing aftermarket shocks of various brands.
At the start of 2024 the company was appointed as the Quantum shock service representative for Australia, and recently as the Nitron Shock service agent for Victoria.
“The addition of authorised factory support allows us to service these UK manufactured brands with original specification seals, allowing the units to work as they left the factory,” Racing Shocks Australia Managing Director, Rob Palermo, said.
“This can be incredibly important especially for competition vehicles who are chasing those last few tenths in lap time and ensure service warranties are provided to factory recommendations.”
Some of the shock brands Racing Shocks Australia can service are manufactured by JRi Shocks, Motion Control Suspension, Penske Racing Shocks, Multimatic, Sachs, JRZ, Intrax, Moton, MCA, Tractive Suspension, Ohlins, Nitron, Quantum, and more.
“For the more difficult or older designs, if original seals can’t be purchased, we have a good relationship with a seal manufacturer who can reproduce certain types of seals,” Rob said.
“Often the end user wants to know the units can be serviced locally with access to advice or direction on adjustments required depending on any suspension/handling issues they may be experiencing.”
Rob says the experience Racing Shocks Australia can provide is not limited to the sale, service or installation of motorsport shocks.
“It goes far wider by providing race car engineering services like track day support, data logger analysis, and 3D suspension geometry analysis,” Rob said.
“Recently we performed remote work for a team based in the Philippines who were preparing a Toyota Supra A90 for track work. The vehicle was still very much OEM based except for minor bolt on modifications, including Motion Control Suspension coil-overs.
“They were having some issues with getting the vehicle to handle and with the relationship we have built with Motion Control Suspension in the USA, they reached out to us to advise if we could assist.
“In doing so, we went through the basics, measured another vehicle locally to assess the geometry effects when lowering the vehicle and changes required, and supplied them with setup information they could use to change and test.
“The result: they were able to break the track record in their class at their local track.”
Locally, Racing Shocks Australia’s race engineering services have aided Subaru specialist workshop, Got It Rex.
“In 2023 and 2024, the team won both the Pro Class and Outright event at Winton for the title of Australian Time Attack Champion and Club Sprint Champion in 2024 with another vehicle they prepare for a customer,” Rob said.
“Our customers also include national teams who ended 2024 in the top three outright championship positions in the Precision International Sports Sedans Series and the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship.
“Motorsport competition-based engineering is our expertise, and we are open to discussions to help other teams and automotive workshops assist their customers achieve their goals.”
