LOVELLS BECOMES NAMING RIGHTS SPONSOR OF ALPINE RALLY
The leading Australian manufacturer is now partnering with a historic rally event

Lovells Automotive Systems has agreed to become a naming rights sponsor of the iconic Alpine Rally of East Gippsland.
Headquartered in Newcastle, New South Wales, Lovells says it is Australia’s largest manufacturer of leaf springs, suspension components, and original equipment (OEM) parts and aftermarket coil.
The company has supplied driveline and suspension upgrades to motorsport competitors locally and around the world for many years, and says the 2025 Lovells Alpine Rally of East Gippsland will contribute to the lasting legacy of this long-running rally event.
First held in 1921, the Alpine Rally of East Gippsland is one of the world’s oldest motorsport events.
This bi-annual event draws top rally competitors from Australia as well as international competitors from the UK, New Zealand, Ireland, and the United States, putting the spotlight on historic two-wheel drive rally cars made by Mazda, Nissan/Datsun, Fiat/Lancia, Ford, and Peugeot, among others.
Models include the Ford Escort, the Datsun 1600, and Toyota Corolla, with authenticity celebrated as modern tech is limited.
With its rugged terrain and scenic views, the rally has secured its place as a cornerstone of Australian motorsport.
In addition to being the naming sponsor, Lovells will enter a ‘wildcard’ entry in the upcoming event with a celebrity driver that has yet to be announced.
Lovells’ Managing Director, Simon Crane, is more than familiar with the rally scene, having competed in and supported rally events for 50 years.
“Lovells is proud to partner with the Historic Rally Association in supporting the iconic Alpine Rally of East Gippsland,” Simon said.
“It is exciting and humbling to help foster the next generation of rally crews through our sponsorship and wildcard entry, giving them the chance to follow in the footsteps of Alpine legends like Harry Firth, George Shepheard, Bob Watson, and George Fury.”
Event Director Troy Bennett is also excited about the partnership.
“To have a company of both the calibre and rich history of Lovells support Alpine Rally of East Gippsland is quite frankly a match made in dusty heaven,” Troy said.
“Lovells’ support will ensure that this iconic event can continue as a cornerstone of local and global motorsport.”
The 2025 Lovells Alpine Rally of East Gippsland will be held across 28-30 November 2025 and is free to spectators.
In addition to the rally events, there are various activities, food stalls, and an opportunity to see the cars up close and meet the drivers.
