ACIA LAUNCHES NEW INITIATIVE
The program is designed to showcase careers in collision repair

The Australian Collision Industry Alliance (ACIA), in partnership with Kym Jones Exhibitions and Events, is launching a new initiative to tackle workforce shortages in the collision repair and automotive sector.
The Collision and Automotive Hub will debut at the Brisbane Careers and Employment Expo from June 12 to 14, 2025.
Strategically located next to WorldSkills, this hub aims to connect students, educators, and job seekers with businesses and training providers, highlighting various career paths within the industry.
ACIA has been actively participating in career events in Australia and plans to intensify its efforts in 2025. This new hub will create a centralised space for students to explore all career options in collision repair, helping them understand the opportunities available.
This pilot program is part of ACIA’s strategy to promote apprenticeships and employment in Australia. If successful, it may expand to other career expos, strengthening the industry’s workforce and ensuring a sustainable future.
Many students and parents are interested in automotive careers, but may not be aware of the full range of options beyond traditional mechanical roles. ACIA says the Collision and Automotive Hub will address this with live demonstrations and interactive activities.
ACIA Board Member, Andrea McCarthy, highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing workforce issues.
“The collision repair industry is evolving, yet we face a skills shortage,” Andrea said.
“This initiative will connect businesses, training providers, and industry leaders with young people and career changers to showcase diverse career opportunities.”
The hub will offer hands-on experiences, industry insights, and direct engagement with businesses offering apprenticeships and job openings.
Participating companies will gain national exposure and networking opportunities, showing the industry’s commitment to workforce development.
“This isn’t just about recruitment; it is about shaping the future of our industry,” Andrea said.
ACIA – which was also pleased to announce that Toyota has officially joined it as a Platinum Partner – invites businesses and stakeholders to support this initiative at the Brisbane Careers and Employment Expo.
