ADELAIDE GRAND PRIX HISTORY RECREATED AT THE 2025 REPCO ADELAIDE MOTORSPORT FESTIVAL
The Festival was held across March 8 and 9

Four decades on from the first laps by a Formula 1 car at the inaugural Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide in 1985, history was repeated at the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival.
On October 31 1985, Alan Jones was given the honour of completing the first lap for a Formula 1 car at the inaugural Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide, at the start of a familiarisation practice session in his Beatrice Haas Lola THL1.
That same car completed a special demonstration at the start of the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival, to celebrate 40 years since the first grand prix.
The Haas Lola THL1 Formula 1 car has been a regular at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, powered by a turbocharged Hart engine. The car was in action in the Formula 1 category across the weekend.
Alan, the 1980 Formula 1 world champion, was the only Australian on the grid for the first grand prix in Adelaide in 1985. Jones was due to appear at the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival to witness the lap, however he was unable to make it due to travel disruptions caused by Cyclone Alfred.
Following on from an increase in attendance in 2025 and significant overseas and interstate interest in 2026, the Adelaide Motorsport Festival continues to grow with record interest this year.
The total attendance for the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival was 42,938, an 8.5 percent growth on last year. This included at the free Gouger Street Party and the ticketed event itself in Victoria Park.
With increased interest from new entrants from overseas and interstate, entrant expressions of interest are now open for the 2026 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival.
The 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival featured various categories, ranging from Formula 1 cars, V8 Supercars, sportscars, touring cars, motorbikes and more with the action non-stop without a break in track activity at any stage of either day.
Introduced for the first time was a ‘Ten of the Best Shootout,’ which was topped by Craig Lowndes driving the Pagani Huayra R, beating Tim Slade and the Brabham BT62 by one-hundredth of a second.
Also making an appearance was Formula 1 World Champion, Damon Hill, who drove his first grand prix car at the Festival, as well as fellow F1 personalities, Guenther Steiner, David Croft, and David Brabham.
Also featured were Can-Am, Hypercar, Le Mans and NASCAR categories as well as the new-look Touring Car Legends, which featured Group A and V8 Supercar touring cars on track together, while the Repco Circuit Safari also returned.
