The Northern Territory workshop has won the prestigious award for Automotive Mechanical Repairs

Berry Springs Mechanical, led by Beckie Kernich, was awarded the prestigious Australian Trades Small Business Champion Award for Automotive Mechanical Repairs in late 2024.

Beckie’s journey with Berry Springs Mechanical began over ten years ago when she took over the business.
Starting as both the owner and apprentice, Beckie has since transformed the workshop into a respected automotive service provider, known for its commitment to customer care and technical excellence.
The business, originally founded 30 years ago, has become a cornerstone of the Berry Springs community under her leadership.
A single mum who returned to her passion for mechanical repairs, Beckie’s no-nonsense approach to problem-solving has won over customers, many of whom appreciate her calm and straightforward style.
Female customers, in particular, reportedly value the woman-to-woman connection when discussing their vehicle service needs.
Beyond the workshop, Beckie’s contributions extend into the community.
She offers free monthly workshops under the “Bec’s Basics” program, teaching essential car maintenance skills, including checking oil, coolant, tyre pressure, and more.
Beckie is also an avid supporter of the “No One Left Behind” initiative, promoting community support and connection, especially for those facing hardships.
“Everything comes down to customer service at the end of the day and trying to make all our customers happy,” Beckie said.
“We’re here for emergency repairs and to help when people are stuck, and we do our best to accommodate everyone.”
