Giving CUVs more ground clearance and off-road fun

Crossover models are constantly gaining popularity. The interstage between passenger car and SUV is highly demanded also on the Australian market.
Bilstein asserts that currently, there are “hardly any” suspension tuning products for this segment, stating that it now offers a special upgrade for these models for more off-road driving fun: the Bilstein B8 TerraSport.
This shock absorber is specially developed for CUVs (Crossover Utility Vehicles) and provides more ground clearance and thus significantly better off-road capability, says Bilstein.
Depending on the application, the Bilstein B8 TerraSport lifts the CUV by one to two inches. With this additional ground clearance, even rough terrain in the outback can be safely cruised, while day-to-day ride quality on the roads is improved at the same time.
The patented degressive valving reacts immediately to changing surface conditions and adjusts the suspension setting accordingly so that the wheels maintain optimum contact with the ground.
A crossover vehicle with the Bilstein B8 TerraSport upgrade can safely explore back-country terrain – without compromising ride comfort or quality, says Bilstein, which also states its well-proven gas pressure technology ensures the damping oil does not foam even under high loads and outside temperatures but retains its full damping force.
Even when fully loaded, travelling to a camping spot for a night in the wilderness is just as safe as driving back home in poor road conditions, with the Bilstein B8 TerraSport handling the lifting easily and allowing for safety and ride comfort even with an elevated gravity centre.
Installation is easy, as the new shock absorbers are mounted on the vehicle’s factory coil springs using the existing OEM mounting locations. Therefore, no additional lift springs are required to achieve the ground clearance and thus gain off-road capability – an additional cost advantage to the already favourable price/performance ratio, says Bilstein.
Only for vehicles with separate spring and damper elements a urethane spacer is used on the rear axle for lifting. Additional wear is avoided by aligning the vehicle to the factory specifications.
Like all Bilstein products, the Bilstein B8 TerraSport shock absorbers are specifically tested and tuned for each vehicle model – always with the optimum driving behaviour in mind.
BILSTEIN B8 TerraSport shock absorbers are currently available for the following models: Ford Bronco Sport, Ford Maverick, Jeep Renegade, Subaru Crosstrek/Subaru XV Crosstrek, Subaru Forester, Subaru Outback, and Toyota RAV4. Other applications will follow in 2025.
