BILSTEIN EXTENDS B6 CAMPER PRODUCT RANGE
The shock absorber upgrade is now also possible for motorhomes based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
The booming camping market is opening up profitable additional business for workshops – especially as the OE suspension quickly reaches its limits with fully loaded motorhomes and camper vans.
Many campers complain about lacking ride comfort, poor stability in bends or annoying noise on long holiday trips.
Bilstein says it has developed the special B6 Camper shock absorbers that noticeably improve the ride comfort and safety of motorhomes and camper vans.
This upgrade is now also possible for motorhomes based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, with the shock absorber expert Bilstein supplementing its camper product range by specially adjusted dampers for the Sprinter series 906, 907 and 910, covering another popular base vehicle for semi-integrated motorhomes and camper vans.
More damping force for safety and comfort
The Bilstein B6 Camper high-performance shock absorbers significantly improve handling of the van suspension, which originally had been designed for different loads.
To this end, the damping properties were extensively adjusted to the parameters of motorhomes in road tests on the premises of ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg.
These are usually packed to the payload limit, have a higher centre of gravity and other protrusions or wheel bases.
When using special dampers, the optimum grip results in increased safety in crosswinds and bends as well as a more intense driving experience due to high traction and precise handling.
At the same time, campers can look forward to a more comfortable driving experience after a shock absorber upgrade: the reduction of driving noise through better damping contributes to this just as much as the optimised rolling behaviour on cobblestones and at level crossings, says Bilstein.
Additional business with the Bilstein B6 Camper
The new product line launched in 2022 was previously available for motorhomes based on the Fiat Ducato (from model year 2006) and identical vehicles from Citroën, Peugeot and Opel.
Bilstein says its extended product range for more recent Sprinters from model series 906 to 910 with front-wheel drive offers workshops the opportunity for even more additional business.
Bilstein says its Camper shock absorbers can be installed easily and without registration by vehicle professionals at a reasonable price, stating the installation effort is the same as for conventional shock absorbers.
Bilstein, which says it is the shock absorber expert, supports workshops that want to prepare themselves for Camper customers with special training sessions.
