CELEBRATING 50 YEARS WITH ARB
The leading 4×4 brand celebrates fifty years of innovation, craftmanship, and people in 2025

What started as a one-man operation in a Melbourne garage has grown into a global leader in 4×4 accessories: ARB 4×4 Accessories.
For half a century, ARB 4×4 Accessories says it has remained committed to one core principle – building 4×4 accessories that stand up to the world’s toughest conditions.
But ARB says its legacy isn’t just about the products; it is about the people, the craftsmanship, and the relentless pursuit of innovation that has shaped the company into what it is today.
In 1975, Anthony Ronald Brown (ARB) saw an opportunity to improve off road equipment after experiencing first-hand the challenges of rugged terrain during a trip to Cape York.
With a vision for better, more durable solutions, he hand-built the first ARB roof rack and bull bar, setting a new benchmark for strength and reliability in the process, says the company.
From those early designs to today’s state-of-the-art manufacturing, ARB says its success has always been driven by a passion for quality, seeing it grow from humble beginnings, into an industry pioneer.
ARB says its introduction of the Air Locker in 1987 revolutionised off road traction, while the acquisition of Old Man Emu suspension in 1988 expanded ARB’s expertise in ride control.
By the early 2000s, the company had established international operations, expanded its manufacturing footprint, and continued to set new standards in 4×4 protection, storage, and performance.
None of this growth would have been possible without the people behind the brand.
ARB says its commitment to Australian manufacturing has been central to its success, with a highly skilled workforce dedicated to engineering, testing, and delivering world-class products.
Expanding beyond its Melbourne roots, ARB has grown into a global network of distributors, retailers, and partners, all sharing the same commitment to quality and adventure.
As ARB celebrates 50 years, the company remains focused on the future with new product innovations, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and a continued dedication to customer needs.
At the same time, ARB says it will always be about pushing limits, building the toughest 4×4 gear, and ensuring adventurers, businesses, and professionals have the best equipment for the journey ahead.
