Shigiya in Japan has developed cutting-edge CNC Masterless Camshaft grinding technology, says Crow Cams, which states it has made it a priority to bring this technology to Australia for the benefit of engine builders.
The machine designed by Shigiya digitally generates the cam profile, meaning that no traditional cam master is needed.
With this exciting technology, Crow Cams says engine builders can enjoy greater cam design flexibility and the highest levels of machining accuracy.
The simple process involves engine builders delivering a desired cam profile to Crow Cams.
Then the company’s designers can simulate the profile before grinding, ensuring incredible profile accuracy.
This new technology is becoming more popular among Australia’s engine builders.
As a result, Crow Cams has invested in a second Shigiya machine, which will arrive in February 2025, ready to meet this growing demand.
Crow Cams has stated that retro fits into Chevy V8s, Ford V8s, and Holden V8s are a common application for this technology.
With the extra grinding capacity on its way, the company has introduced hydraulic and solid lifter roller cams for the Classic Holden Straight 6 engine for both road and race applications.
Crow Cams also has a complete range of US made SEC Johnson roller lifters, which are used by GM Racing, with specially designed lifters for Australian Holden Applications.
