DRIVE EIGHT TONNES OF GCM WITH A CAR LICENSE

Six Wheeler Conversions says it is the first in Queensland to make this possible

Six Wheeler Conversions says it can now offer its PY Ranger conversion as a Light Vehicle with increased GCM using the QLD LS16 modification code.
The company states testing has just been completed to meet the requirements of QCOP Code LS16: Gross Combination Mass Re-Rating, with this being the first vehicle to pass the Queensland tests with these weight ratings.
The new specification of the Six Wheeler PY Ranger (and equivalent Amarok) features a 4495kg GVM, 7995kg GCM, and a 3500kg braked towing capacity.
Six Wheeler Conversions explains that this means it can carry more than 1500kg of payload and still tow that 3500kg caravan or boat.
Further, 4500kg braked towing capacity is also available if Heavy Vehicle registration is chosen.
The current VW Amarok shares the Ranger platform, meaning the same specifications apply to the Six Wheeler Amarok.
“While we knew our vehicles were capable of achieving these results, it has been an 18 month process to meet the test parameters set by TMR,” Six Wheeler Conversions Managing Director, Mike Briggs, said.
LS16 is a Queensland-specific modification code that other Australian states do not yet have.
Six Wheeler Conversions says it continues to work with interstate engineers to have the same specifications approved for Six Wheeler Rangers registered outside of Queensland.
The Six Wheeler PY Ranger Conversion package includes a stronger and longer chassis; a load bearing axle with disc brakes; a 60:40 load sharing axle group; custom springs; Bilstein shocks; a custom auto transmission oil cooler; and Queensland modification approval.
Six Wheeler Conversions also offers its range of eye-tie trays and accessories to complement its builds and provide “a one-stop shop to create the ultimate touring or tradie ute.”
The company provides customers with weight distribution solutions for the most current utes, including BT50; DMax; Hilux; PX Ranger Series; Amarok; and Landcruiser.
All conversions are available in Light Vehicle or Heavy Vehicle configurations to cater for a variety of uses, such as slide on campers; towing a fifth wheeler or gooseneck; towing a large caravan; towing a large boat; towing a horse float; towing a plant trailer; mobile mechanics; service vehicles for earthmoving and agricultural plant; cargo delivery – particularly to remote areas or undercover carparks; and transport for crew and their tools in a dual cab with a 2.6m tray.
