GOSS DRIVES SUSTAINABILITY

The company has made a bold move to eliminate plastic packaging

For workshops across the country, Goss says its latest sustainability initiatives offer more than just eco-friendly packaging, stating they provide practical commercial benefit by helping reduce the cost of landfill.
By purchasing Goss Genuine Alternative Ignition Coils and other products without plastic wrapping, Goss says workshops can significantly reduce their waste, cutting down on unnecessary disposal costs and aligning their operations with growing environmental expectations of consumers.
It says this change not only benefits the planet but also helps workshops streamline waste management, making it easier to maintain clean, organised workspaces.
Goss says it is making significant strides in sustainability by rolling out initiatives aimed at completely removing plastic packaging from its supply chain.
In line with IM Group’s commitment to environmental responsibility, the company has recently achieved ISO14001 certification, an international standard for effective environmental management systems. It says this milestone reflects its dedication to minimising its environmental impact across all operations.
Goss General Manager of Supply Chain, Adam Tidd, highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts.
“Our goal is to eliminate single-use plastics entirely from our supply chain,” Adam said.
“We recognise the urgent need to reduce waste and are committed to implementing solutions that make a meaningful impact on the environment.
“Our new eco-friendly packaging is fully recyclable, but just as important, it doesn’t compromise the quality of our product or packaging integrity.
“We’ve designed it to protect our products just as effectively, ensuring our customers get the same high standards they expect from Goss.”
The first product line to benefit from this eco-friendly packaging is Goss Genuine Alternative Ignition Coils, which covers 95 percent of the Vehicle On Road car parc.
It says this wide-reaching line demonstrates Goss’ commitment to both environmental stewardship and maintaining product excellence across a key part of its range.
As part of these efforts, Goss has been named as a finalist for the 2024 APCO (Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation) Awards, which acknowledges companies leading the way in sustainable packaging solutions.
Goss says this recognition underlines the effectiveness of its initiatives and positions the company as a leader in sustainable practices within the automotive industry.
In 2023, Goss introduced a cardboard shredder to reduce the use of plastic bubble wrap, significantly lowering the plastic waste generated.
Additionally, reuse initiatives such as battery recycling and donating used pallets to local farmers to prevent them from ending up in landfill have been implemented to further reduce environmental impact.
With the ambition to fully eliminate single-use packaging, Goss says it “continues to set the standard for environmental responsibility in the automotive sector, providing workshops with a more sustainable, efficient option for quality automotive parts.”
