INNOVATION AWARDS PARTICIPATION RECORD FOR AUTOMECHANIKA
The largest number of entries since the awards were launched have been received this year
More than 150 products were submitted for consideration in the Automechanika Frankfurt Innovation Awards this year.
The Awards’ international jury met in Frankfurt in mid-July to decide which of the 153 products would be officially nominated for the coveted awards ahead of the September show, with 42 applicants shortlisted across nine categories.
Ahead of the jury meeting, the following international experts from the automotive industry from Australia, China, Europe, South Africa, Turkey and North and South America spent a number of weeks scrutinising and examining the 153 products submitted:

• Stuart Charity, CEO, Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA)
• Francisco Nicolas Gonzalez Diaz, Executive President, Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association INA
• Dr. Axel Glanz, Managing Director, Innovationen Institut
• Edwin Grabowski, Publisher, Carwashinfo
• Detlef Peter Grün, Federal Guild Master and Vice President of the German Association of the Automotive Trade (ZDK)
• Wolfgang Michel, Editor-in-chief, kfz-betrieb and Gebrauchtwagen-Praxis
• Jason Moseley, CEO, International Bodyshop Industry Symposium (IBIS)
• Jakkie Olivier, Board Member (Non-Executive Director), Retail Motor Industry Association (RMI)
• Prof. Dr. Stefan Reindl, CEO of the Insitute for the Autmotive Industry (IfA)
• Burkhard Riering, Publisher and Editor-in-chief, Automobilwoche
• Frank Schlehuber, Senior Consultant Market Affairs, European Association of Automotive Suppliers (CLEPA)
• Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Schumacher, University of Wuppertal Chair for Optimization of Mechanical Structures
• Wang Xia, Chairman, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Automotive Industry Branch
The decision was based on the independent expert opinions of consultant Dr Gerhard Angerer and Alexander Wottge, project manager at the Institute of Automotive Economics (ifa – Institut für Automobilwirtschaft).
The criteria used by the assessors and the jury for the evaluation were the innovative performance and excellence of the solution, economic efficiency, user benefits, functionality and ease of use, market potential in the aftersales market, quality, durability and safety as well as sustainability, energy efficiency, climate protection, environmental protection and conservation of resources.
The winners of the Innovation Awards will only be announced at Automechanika Frankfurt. In a festive awards ceremony on September 10 commencing at 5.00pm in the Harmonie Hall of the Congress Centre, the selected companies will receive their awards.
All nominated products and the winners of the Innovation Awards will also be on-show in the Innovation4Mobility area in Hall 3.0 at Automechanika Frankurt from 11 September.
