JAX RAISES FUNDS AS PART OF $2 MILLION FIGHT AGAINST CANCER
JAX Tyres and Auto Gosford was part of 2023’s Shitbox Rally
JAX Tyres and Auto Gosford franchisee, Peter Bonvino, and his brother-in-law, Nathan Metcalfe, recently played their part in a nationwide effort to raise $2 million in support of the Cancer Council’s fight against cancer, with their entry into this spring’s Shitbox Rally.
Setting off on October 13th, Nathan and Peter, AKA ‘Sons of AnaCamry’, completed the daunting 2,500km journey from Port Douglas to Adelaide, across some of Australia’s most unforgiving roads and through towns including Einasleigh, Winton, Windorah, Birdsville, Marree, and Rawnsley Park.
All competing cars must be purchased for $1,500 or less, with Nathan and Peter’s 2001 Toyota Camry wagon taken off the hands of a Brazilian backpacker on his way to the airport for $1,400 back in February.
When all was said and done, the pair successfully made it over the line into Adelaide, six days after setting off from Port Douglas.
At the time of printing, Peter and Nathan had raised $12,600 for the Cancer Council, including a $2,500 donation from JAX Tyres and Auto Head Office. Their funds contributed to the $2,361,876 raised in total across all entries and sponsors this year. All donations to the Sons of AnaCamry of $100 or more saw the name of a loved-one lost to cancer inscribed on the car, providing a boost to Nathan and Peter on their fundraising journey.
