MAKING THE DIFFERENCE
Bilstein says its Bilstein B4 OE replacement shock absorbers ensure satisfied workshop customers
Forewarned is forearmed, but when it comes to shock absorbers, this rule is difficult for drivers to put into practice.
This is because shock absorbers wear out almost imperceptibly with increasing mileage, with handling becoming more imprecise and the braking distance longer.
It is therefore all the more important that the workshop regularly checks the safety-relevant shock absorbers – for the safety of the drivers, and possible additional business for the workshop.
If the shock absorbers need to be replaced, it is important to opt for a reliable quality product.
Bilstein says its B4 OE replacement range corresponds exactly to original equipment in terms of technology and quality.
After the shock absorbers have been replaced, Bilstein says the perfect road grip and precise handling are restored, resulting in maximum safety and a driving experience as if the car just came from the assembly line – a difference which Bilstein says the driver can feel immediately and experience over tens of thousands of miles.
As such, Bilstein says the overall package of its Bilstein B4 range ensures satisfied workshop customers who will gladly come again.
With more than 2,300 applications, Bilstein explains its B4 product range covers more than 90 percent of all European vehicle models, and so “there is a suitable B4 model for almost every car on the market as a monotube and twin-tube gas pressure shock absorber in the specification that corresponds exactly to the standard equipment.”
Bilstein says it is also a one-stop shop for the necessary accessories, such as top mounts or bump stops and even springs.
When replacing shock absorbers, it says workshops should always keep an eye on the surrounding components, noting that it is also important to replace the shock absorbers always in pairs on both sides of the vehicle at the same time.
OEM competence for the aftermarket
Bilstein B4 OE replacement shock absorbers are manufactured on the same production lines as the OE products.
Bilstein explains that it “supplies many premium vehicle manufacturers with the highest quality shock absorber and suspension systems as standard and therefore knows exactly what the OEMs require.”
If the workshop decides to use Bilstein products for replacement, Bilstein says they can rely on getting first-class components with excellent quality, while customers can be sure that the driving experience of their vehicle is the same as ex-works.
The shock absorber expert not only supplies OE products for series production, but also develops innovative OE suspension technologies together with vehicle manufacturers.
One example is the DampMatic developed jointly by Bilstein and Mercedes-Benz. Even without external control, Bistein says the mechanical system ensures that the shock absorber is tighter or softer depending on amplitude of vibration.
Bilstein holds the patent for its DampMatic technology. Bilstein explains this means that no other manufacturer can offer OE replacement shock absorbers, which are identical to the OE component.
However, because the amplitude-dependent control is integrated in the damper and works without cables, there is a risk that the workshop may overlook it, says Bilstein.
However, if they opt for the Bilstein B4 OE replacement shock absorber, Bilstein says the DampMatic technology for the particular Mercedes-Benz model is automatically equipped – just like in series production and in OE quality.
Air spring modules with a unique feature
For vehicles with integrated air suspension modules, Bilstein says another look at the B4 product range will help.
The company states it is “one of the few aftermarket suppliers to offer brand-new spare parts that are cheaper than OE replacement parts and that surpass remanufactured parts in terms of quality.”
In the latter case, it states used shock absorbers of uncertain mileage are installed and not infrequently, the electronic control valves are shut down instead of replaced. This turns an active system into a passive one.
And if the compressor in an air suspension system is defective, Bilstein says it can also help; with replacements able to be found in the B1 product range.
