Terrain Tamer’s heaviest duty shock absorber design to date

More than most other places in the world, 4WD operators travelling through the Australian outback are faced with harsh terrains, extreme conditions, and often dangerously high climates.
Suspension that not only gets you out onto the tracks but is durable and strong enough to last the trip and make it back home, is non-negotiable.
In response to this, Terrain Tamer says it has released its heaviest duty shock absorber design to date: the monotube Fortified Shock Absorber, initially available for a range of Toyota Landcruiser 76/78/79 series and Nissan Patrol GU/GQ vehicles and offering a weight capacity of up to five tonnes.
Terrain Tamer says these shock absorbers are less susceptible to shock fade, with the monotube design featuring a single cylinder, separated into two chambers, one which holds gas, and another with fluid, where the piston and shaft move.
These are separated by a 46-60mm free-floating piston and a double u-cup and wiper seal, which work to stop the gas and oil from mixing.
Terrain Tamer says this separation means that there is higher gas pressure and no foaming or aeration within the shocks, delivering better responsiveness and offering better heat dissipation, with a unit that ultimately runs cooler in offroad conditions and extreme temperatures, such as those encountered in the Australian outback.
Along with these benefits, Terrain Tamer explains the Fortified Shock Absorbers boast a large 2.5inch bore diameter for larger oil volume, as well as a 20-22mm Chrome Hardened Shaft and induction hardened Chrome piston rod, combining to provide a firmer ride, and more ride control when towing or fully loaded.
