RACER INDUSTRIES PARTNERS WITH CHEVROLET RACING IN FINKE DESERT RACE
As this magazine went to print, Racer Industries and Chevrolet Racing were taking on Finke
Racer Industries teamed up with Chevrolet Racing for the Finke Desert Race, supplying racing apparel and equipment, supported by Hulk 4×4 and Ignite Lighting.
For the 2024 running of Australia’s most prestigious off-road race, a Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Off-Road Racer was piloted by former Supercars champion and motor racing legend Craig Lowndes, who partnered experienced navigator, Dale Moscatt.
With three Supercars Championships, seven Bathurst titles, and more than 100 wins in Australia’s premier racing category, Craig is one of the most popular figures in Australian motorsport, while 2014 Australian Rally Champion Dale is a highly experienced navigator and renowned co-driver.
“Racer Industries is incredibly excited to support this collobaration between Chevrolet Racing, the motorsport arm of General Motors Australia and New Zealand, and GM Speciality Vehicles, and the partnership of Craig Lowndes and Dale Moscatt,” Racer Industries’ Business Development Manager – Performance, Mathew Nilsson, said.
“The Finke Desert Race truly is a unique outback event, famed for being one of the most difficult off-road races in the world, and we are excited by the opportunity to support the program with a range of products to meet the demands of such unique conditions for the vehicle, drivers and crew.”
As the Official Australian Sparco Dealer, Racer Industries supported the outing through the supply of Sparco apparel, including race suits, racing shoes, fire resistant undergarments, gloves and balaclavas, complemented by a range of general hard parts and equipment.
Hulk 4×4 accessories and Ignite Lighting products have been fitted to the Chevrolet Silverado to light the way ahead and assist with traversing the rugged outback landscape, as well as supplying a range of camping equipment for the crew during the event.
“Chevrolet Racing and Racer Industries are aligned in our objective to provide Craig and Dale with the most reliable and competitive equipment to get the job done in the Silverado ZR2 at Finke, and that’s why we’ve chosen these leading products from Sparco, Hulk 4×4, and Ignite Lighting,” Chevrolet Racing General Manager, Chris Payne, said.
As he prepared to take the start, Craig Lowndes said he was looking forward to swapping his ‘daily driver’ Silverado for something even more exciting.
“I’m thrilled to be taking the Silverado to Finke. It has been a while since I won the Australian Safari, which was way back in 2010, this is going to be a great test,” Craig said.
“I drive a Silverado ZR2 every day and regularly put it through its paces off-road on weekends, as well as towing our caravan yearly to the Bathurst 1000.”
The Tatts Finke Desert Race was held between Alice Springs and the Aputula Community in the Northern Territory from the 7th to the 10th of June, 2024.
