REDUCING ENERGY COSTS IN AUTOMOTIVE WORKSHOPS
MAHLE encourages you to become a sustainability leader in your industry
Level up your automotive workshop with climate and environmental protection: it is not just good for the planet; it is great for your energy costs and also for your shop’s image.
While it is important to address legal requirements such as proper disposal and recycling, there are several simple steps you can take to promote sustainability in your workshop – even minor measures can have a significant impact, such as the following:
• Convert to LED technology
• Use rainwater to wash tyres, floors, and cars
• Use battery-powered tools instead of air-powered tools
• Insulate halls and gates
• Minimise cleaning paper usage
Additionally, MAHLE offers the following three energy-saving tips specifically tailored to automotive workshops:
• Tip one: adjust room temperature. Lowering the room temperature by just one degree Celsius can result in heating energy savings of about six to eight percent. Consider lowering the temperature by approximately five degrees Celsius overnight, which can save 10-15 percent of heating energy.
• Tip two: address compressed air leaks. Leaks in compressed air lines can significantly increase power requirements. Eliminating leaks or switching to battery-powered tools can lead to substantial savings, as leakage losses often account for 50 percent of compressed air usage.
• Tip three: implement LED lighting. LED lamps consume significantly less energy than traditional options. Implement lighting zoning by using motion sensors to switch lights on and off based on occupancy, resulting in considerable power savings.
Climate-friendly air conditioning service
MAHLE says it is also working on being more and more sustainable on the road.
In the area of workshop equipment, it states it has already succeeded, explaining that the MAHLE air-conditioning service units of the ACX series are climate-friendly and economical at the same time.
The E3 technology is based on three building blocks, as follows.
With the patented process E3-Fill, the air-conditioning system can be filled independently of the vehicle and ambient temperature.
With E3-Pump, the internal cleaning process of the vacuum pump, oil change intervals can be extended to up to 1,000 operating hours – eliminating the need for annual oil changes.
In addition, E3-Connect couplings allow the refrigerant to be completely recovered from hoses and service couplings. This ensures that no environmentally harmful refrigerant is released, which also lowers costs.
MAHLE encourages you to embrace energy-saving measures to contribute to climate protection, reduce costs, and become a sustainability leader in your industry.
“Let’s drive positive change together and make a greener world our finish line,” says MAHLE.
