SUPERCARS RACE WINNER’S HELMET RAISES $15K+ IN BREAST CANCER AWARENESS AUCTION

Dave Reynolds, Penrite Racing, and JAX Tyres and Auto capped the Gold Coast victory with a donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation

Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 champion and JAX Tyres and Auto ambassador, David Reynolds, capped off a thrilling victory by helping to auction off the special edition pink helmet that helped him to victory, securing $15,500 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
To mark breast cancer awareness month in October, David Reynolds, along with his entire Penrite Racing pit crew, proudly swapped their JAX Tyres and Auto yellow helmets for unforgettable pink during the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, in support of the NBCF and its vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
The limited-edition Bell HP7 Evo3 pink Breast Cancer helmet, painted by Rod Gilchrist, was already set to become a highly valued collectors’ item, even before Reynolds stormed to victory, transforming the item from “race-worn” to “race-won” with just 20 minutes of the auction remaining.
“What a fantastic weekend it was at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500,” David said.
“It was really cool to have finished the weekend off with a podium and of course all with the luck of the pink National Breast Cancer Foundation helmet; thanks to JAX Tyres and Auto.
“I’m honoured to have been able to assist in raising funds for such an important cause. A big thanks to everyone involved.”
The helmet was won by local, Ben Hennock.
“David’s helmet could not have gone to a better bloke,” said Lloyds Chief Operating Officer, Lee Hames.
“A local legend in the Gold Coast, Ben Hennock has one of the most impressive private motorsport collections I have ever seen, as well as the honour of raising a tonne of money for breast cancer research.”
“To be able to add to my collection with a piece of race-winning history is one thing, but to know that the money raised is going to such an important charity just makes the whole thing extra special. Congrats to Dave, Penrite Racing, JAX, and the National Breast Cancer Foundation on such a great initiative,” Ben said.
The helmet design was part of JAX Tyres and Auto’s ongoing support for the NBCF which, as 2023 corporate partner, has already seen the tyre and service specialists sell thousands of specially created pink valve caps, with all funds going directly to Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisation funding world-class breast cancer research.
“Our warmest congratulations go out to David and the entire Penrite Racing team, not just on a hard fought and famous victory on the Gold Coast, but for standing up to play their part in helping to raise money for important, life-saving research into breast cancer,” JAX Tyres and Auto Chief Executive Officer, Steve Grossrieder, said.
