TERRAIN TAMER LAUNCHES CHILDREN’S BOOK

‘Finding Frank’ tells the inspiring story of a small Australian business made good

The origin story of the Terrain Tamer brand is one that has been told many times, but now the company is retelling the story in a new and unique way, through an illustrated children’s book.
Those who know the brand, will be familiar with the story of how Frank Hutchinson started his business in 1969 with only $300 in his pocket, and how he started supplying 4WD parts to the likes of Bill King in the mid-1970s.
Bill, who started what is now the AAT Kings Tour Company, would purchase parts that had been strengthened by Frank, to help ensure a safe return for the passengers of his tours along the rugged tracks of central Australia.
The inspiring story of a small Australian business made good has been told throughout a national radio and television campaign throughout 2024, and now Terrain Tamer have turned it into a beautifully illustrated book, recounting the tale in a simplified language for younger minds to read and learn.
Written by Terrain Tamer’s Marketing Manager, Skye Kottachchi, and illustrated by Mandy Foot, who has an extensive portfolio in the storybook industry, the book is titled “Finding Frank.”
It was developed after several time-poor workshop owners mentioned in passing how important their nightly story time is in allowing them to reconnect with their young families after a busy day of work.
The book tells the story of a man named Bill who is pointed in the direction of Frank by multiple passersby after several outback break downs, and the difference made by the Terrain Tamer upgrades he finally has fitted.
The story is accompanied by Mandy’s incredible illustrations, capturing travel through the quintessential red dust of the Australian Outback.

Terrain Tamer’s ‘Finding Frank’ children’s book is available on the Terrain Tamer Merchandise Store.
