XTREME OUTBACK LAUNCHES NEW CLUTCH UPGRADE

This new release upgrade has been developed specifically for the 70 Series LandCruiser

Xtreme Outback has recently released a new upgrade to suit highly modified 70 Series VDJ LandCruiser models.
The upgrade utilises a self-adjusting pressure plate, the first of its type for this application, and has been developed to offer the ultimate clutch for highly modified 70 Series LandCruisers that still require exceptional driveability characteristics.
The upgrade clutch, known as the Xtreme Outback X-Series, is available with two different friction disc options including a steel backed sprung organic and a steel backed dual friction (organic one side, ceramic the other).
This provides a peak torque capacity of 1080 Nm (organic friction disc) and 1530 Nm (dual friction disc) with Xtreme Outback also providing recommended torque figures for maximum long-term durability of 870 Nm and 1225 Nm respectively.
The kits come complete with the 1600kg clamping force self-adjusting pressure plate, S45 steel flywheel, steel backed friction disc, custom engineered slave cylinder for optimal pedal engagement height, braided clutch line, release bearing, pilot bearing, pressure plate and flywheel bolts as well as a precision fit alloy alignment tool.
The self-adjusting pressure plate compensates for friction disc wear over time, with an internal mechanism that ratchets as the disc wears.
Xtreme Outback says this results in a consistent pedal engagement point and pressure plate performance over the lifecycle of the product.
The steel backed discs are ideal for high torque applications, with Xtreme Outback stating the organic upgrade offers the best driveability whilst the dual-friction increases the torque capacity even further whilst still retaining good driveability for very high-powered vehicles.
Xtreme Outback is the performance 4×4 division of Australian Clutch Services (ACS) and specialises in high performance upgrades for a range of off-road vehicles throughout Australia as well as a significant export market in Europe.
The new VDJ upgrade adds to an already comprehensive offering for the vehicle including heavy-duty and extra heavy-duty options with various friction-disc possibilities.
ACS advises this new upgrade is in line with the evolution of 70 series LandCruiser tuning throughout Australia.
“We have extensively developed this upgrade to change the game with high performance VDJ upgrades,” ACS Product Manager, Colin Jevons, said.
“Our extra heavy-duty upgrade has been a massively popular upgrade for heavily tuned vehicles, but as the tuning market has continued to evolve, we received feedback from the market that an even higher torque capacity was required for vehicles with larger injectors, turbos and intercooler upgrades.
“The market needed an option that not only provided a massive torque capacity, but also excellent driveability for street use.”
Colin says that these new upgrades, combined with their extensive range of direct fit upgrades for the factory flywheel, give performance options to suit all levels of 70 Series tuning.
“The addition of the Xtreme Outback X-Series upgrade for these vehicles adds to our existing range of upgrades that are direct fit to the factory flywheel,” Colin said.
“This gives our customers excellent choice and customisation to ensure they get the right clutch for their needs.”
ACS advises that the new Xtreme Outback X-Series upgrades are suitable for vehicles with a 100 percent (organic) and 185 percent (dual friction) increase in torque at the engine and are available through the Australian Clutch Services nationwide distribution network.
